New Year, New... Self Care!


2021 called - it wants you to bring self care back! As you head into the new year, it's the perfect time to evaluate your health and wellness needs. At Fringe & Skin, we are committed to helping our clients feel their best, which is why we've compiled a nice list of ways you can improve your self care regimen this year.


Get Enough Zzz's

There are SO many reasons why sleep is vital to good health and well-being. For starters, getting enough quality sleep can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. Sleep can make you more productive during the day, as you'll be less sluggish. If you're having trouble falling asleep, consider finding some ways to destress - like listening to calming music before bed. Finally, routine is very important. Try to head to bed around the same time every night.


Take a Tech Break

Being connected online ALL THE TIME can be extremely exhausting and even stressful. Consider setting the smartphone or other device down and stepping back for a breather whenever possible. You'll notice that you are more productive, less distracted and more mindful. You may even notice an improvement in your relationships and increased self-worth. Don't worry, the emails, notifications, and updates will still be there when you get back from your detox.


Drink Enough Water

Is anyone else thirsty?! Just talking about the benefits of water makes us want to head straight for the H2O! Not only does water regulate body temperature, improve blood oxygen circulation, and protect tissues and joints, but it also aids in digestion, weight loss, fighting off illness, boosting energy, improving mood and so much more. It's safe to say that water should be your new sidekick all day long in 2021.


Create Boundaries

Have you heard the saying "It's OK to Say No?" Well, if you haven't, it's time to get more familiar with it this year. Listen carefully: it is not your job to please others all the time. Bowing out of an activity because you need rest - or simply just don't feel like going - is not a bad thing. At all.


Try Meditation/Yoga

Used as an alternative form of exercise to keep the mind and body healthy and happy, yoga and meditation is a great way to practice self care this year. Did you know that practicing yoga improves balance, endurance, flexibility, and strength?
